After I started to build my stamina and endurance by walking 10,000 steps every day, I decided i will need to experience how it feels to participate in an event. At my workplace, there was a post about STEPtember event and were inviting team members to form a group and participate.
What is STEPtember challenge?
STEPtember is a fun and inclusive virtual challenge that encourages you to move your way to 10,000 steps a day – whenever, wherever, and however you like.
I was keen to participate in this challenge. I discussed with my team, and we formed a group of 4 and I was nominated to be the team captain.
After a lot of discussion and deliberation, we named the team as “Leaping Leopards“
The event started from 1st September to 30 September. We all used an app to track our daily activities.
I had 2 goals to achieve:
- Walk everyday and target 20,000 steps a day.
- Encourage my team and target No 1 position among my company!
I was walking non-stop to achieve 20,000 steps or more a day.
Whatever be the day (sunny, rainy, fog, thunderstorm) I made a point to walk, walk and walk.
With blessings of god, my well-wishers, I was able to achieve both my personal as well as team goals.
I did a total of 842,467 steps with an average of 28,082 steps a day.
My team of 4 (including me) did a total of 2,049,489 steps with an average of 68,316 steps a day.
It was and fantastic outcome and I had lots of fun doing this challenge and also motivating my team and pushing them hard to achieve the ultimate prize.
For privacy, I have not disclosed the names and their individual efforts of my team members.
Yes, we were the CHAMPIONS both in Individual and team category!
