The Push-Up Challenge is Australia’s largest mental health and fitness event.
Every year, Australians participate in The Push-Up Challenge to improve their physical and mental fitness, have fun and raise funds to make a difference to mental health in Australia.
In 2024, participants completed 3,249 push-ups in 24 days, from 5-28 June. This number represents the number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2022 (the most recent available data).
When my colleague asked me to join this challenge, I was hesitant as I wasn’t confident of doing push-ups.. But I was told I can do different variations and doesn’t have to be all push-ups.. I was determined only to do push-ups so to improve my form and efficiency..
I understood in my weight loss journey, I have to be in it to experience and improve, just talking and dreaming isn’t enough..
So I opted for full challenge.. this meant I had to do 3,249 push-ups in June..
Each day, there was a target to achieve and every day it will only get tougher..
