After I had a plan to join a gym, I was not looking for a most popular or big ones. What i was looking for was a small fitness studio and most importantly, the trainer who is not judgemental and gives me the right plan to lose weight.
One day, while i was waiting outside a class that my daughter attends, I saw a board hanging there which said, “My Personal Training”. Being curious, I took the number and sent a message to Phil who was the trainer and was running that center.
He was approachable and had no judgements whatsoever and gave me the time to come and have a chat.
The first thing he asked me, was, Pradeep, what do you want to achieve? I told him, weight loss.
He said, okay, let us get the ball rolling and asked me to come and meet him that week.
During the initial chat, he asked me to take a Bio Scan.
Puzzled, I asked him, what is that?
He said, you will soon find out…
So, what is Bio Scan?
A Bio Scan is an indepth look at body composition, from weight to body fat percentage to bone mineral density and more.
I was on that Bio scan for 15-20 minutes and it scans the whole body and then gave him a report at the end of it.
Phil told me, let us review the results.
I told him, yeah, if it shows something good, i will be surprised… 😁😁
From weight to body fat percentage, every parameter was “High” and in “Danger Zone”
He asked me, what do you think of this?
I told him, definitely worried but not surprised and what is why I am here
Phil was just fantastic trying to give me the positive outlook from the report (I think it had 1 or 2 good things, 😂😂) and making sure I wasn’t too stressed.
He told me after the discussion, that he would suggest that I have a personal 1-1 training for couple of days a week. I was happy and gave a nod with this suggestion and requested him to be my trainer to which he obliged.
He asked me, would you prefer morning or evening slot to train?
I told him, early morning please
What time he asked?
5am or 5.30 am? (As I was a morning person)
We locked in 5.30am for the 1-1 training twice a week for 30 minutes each session.
Ah, the numbers in the report were all out of the range. Every parameter read “high” and was scary even to look at it again!
Discussed the results with my wife, she wasn’t surprised, but gave some positive message and backed me to turn things around. After that, I threw the report as it wasn’t a good reading.. 😁😁
That week, I had a very disturbed sleep and was disappointed, frustrated and angry that I did not look after myself, focused on my health and well being and left it so far.
But I was determined!
